About Us
Welcome to Moorways Badminton Club! Founded in 1990 from two long-established teams in Spondon and Darley Abbey, the club took its name from Moorways Sports Centre, where we played until it closed in 2015. Since 2016, our home has been the refurbished sports hall at Bemrose School.
We are a friendly and flourishing club with over 30 adult members. We play with feather shuttlecocks and proudly compete in the Derby and District Badminton League.
Our club is built around a passion for the game and a welcoming community spirit. Whether you’re looking for friendly games, competitive matches, or simply to stay active and meet new people, you’ll find support and encouragement here.

Schedule & Venue
We play regularly at our dedicated venue, offering convenient times for both casual and competitive players. Our schedule is designed to provide flexibility — whether you’re looking for weekday evening sessions, weekend games, or special events. All sessions are held at our chosen venue, which is fully equipped with quality courts and facilities to make your playing experience comfortable and enjoyable.

WHEN WE PLAY
We play on a Thursday from 19:00 to 22:00.
We play at Bemrose School throughout the year with two exceptions:
- Two weeks at Christmas due to School closedown
- During exams when the Sports' Hall is used by the School. This is normally three weeks in February/March and six weeks in May/June. During this period we book an alternative venue. Please use our contact page for details

League Fixtures
We are proud to compete in the league, taking on other teams with a mix of skill, passion, and teamwork. Every fixture is an opportunity to test ourselves, improve our game, and represent the club in a positive way.
